About Alan

I am Alan and I am currently going to school for my Business Management college degree! I am well qualified in math with all the math courses I have taken. I took Engineering based Calculus 1&2 at Texas A&M, Business Calculus 1&2 at San Antonio Community College and Business Statistics and Quantitative Methods of Business at Texas A&M San Antonio.

I have 3 years of experience in tutoring due to my job at high schools and middle schools as an AVID tutor and Campus Tutor to two campuses in the Northside Independent School District. I tutor students in all subjects of math, all the way from 6th grade basic math concepts to 12th grade Calculus 1&2. At the high schools, I see between 120-160 kids a day in the AVID classes. High schoolers mainly need help with Mechanical and Electromagnetic Physics, Statistics, Geometry, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus AB & BC and College Algebra.

I also tutor in subjects such as SAT Math, SAT Reading, SAT Writing,TSI Math, and TSI Reading. I currently help AVID students as my job, so I am also great at preparing students for college readiness! At the middle school campus I help the AVID students with Study Skills necessary for college, high school and middle school. I also tutor them in basic math and a handful of students in Algebra 1. I help ESL students learn basic math concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I also helped the Science Bowl Team master their understanding of science concepts like Chemistry, Electricity, Power, Energy, Genetics, temperature and a myriad of other subjects as well.

I am able to help students see math in terms that simpler than what the eyes tend to complicate when looking at equations, by breaking them down into common concepts. I have a large amount of patience because I used to be where the kids were when they found learning math difficult! I enjoy interacting with students and helping them succeed.

I encourage you to reach out to me if you need help in any subject that you will come into contact with in middle school or high school. College students: I can help in college level math classes such as statistics and calculus, and can provide help with study skills needed to be successful in college. There are discounts for multiple sessions and group sessions which can be discussed via message. My hours are very flexible, but I do request that if you need to cancel a session, that it be 24 hours before the planned session or else you will be charged the amount agreed to for the lesson. I look forward to helping you expand your intellect and become the best student you can be!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
