I taught middle and high school English for 20 years and I've taught math for the GED, which included probability, algebra, geometry, and calculus. I am certified to teach English, and all subjects grades 4-8.
I love tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to connect directly with individual students and see what they've learned or if they're feeling a little unease about the lesson. I also struggled with school so I feel as though there is not a bad question, and we just keep on working together for as long as it takes for a student to tell me, "I get it!"

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught middle and high school English/Language Arts for 20 years. I taught multiple essay types, such as the expository, persuasive, and analytical. I have a bachelor of science in English education, which means that I was both an English major and an education major in college. I also have experience teaching writing for the current GED test, which includes using text evidence for social studies and science essay prompts.
