##### About Stephanie

As a biology major at UTSA I breezed through and only saw graduation day as my goal until I discovered calculus for biosciences. This class was my first real intrigue into math, I had taken math classes previously (college algebra, precalculus, trigonometry) but I finished them and moved on to the next class. This class was different, it opened my eyes to exciting and interesting study of math. After taking this class I decided I NEEDED to learn more. I started taking calculus 1, calculus 2, all the way to calculus 3 when I decided a change in major was in order. By this time I was already so close to graduating with a degree in biology I decided to do both.

I'm currently 35 hours away from TWO BA of science degrees in general mathematics, and biology! Let me tell you it did not come easy. As a double major full time student working all through college I completely understand the outside commitments that sometimes can distract students from fully grasping concepts especially if they are athletes or also have jobs. I have not done one on one tutoring officially as a job title but I have plenty of experience tutoring fellow classmates and peers now taking classes I previously prevailed in. I'm now trying to transition as a full time tutor as opposed to just helping those I know when I have free time.

Students are in class learning from teachers everyday, but it is proven fact that students learn better and retain information longer when it is taught by a peer or someone who can alter their teaching methods for each individual student. I am not a professor, I am a student teaching students in ways they can understand. Learning from someone they can not only relate to but look up to can make dreadful subjects exciting every time they complete a problem. I know this from first hand experience.

Math did not come easy for me, I had to try really hard to be good at math, but I understand the importance of foundation and working to achieve goals. Just because it doesn't click right away doesn't mean it's not for you, as a student who spent countless hours in tutoring myself I want to give back to those students who were like me and want to excel in a study that is not necessarily second nature. Math can be an awesome experience if you have the guidance from someone who has had to learn to be patient due to personal experience. If you need serious help or just want to improve test scores, It would be my pleasure to help!
