My name is Carlita and I just graduated with a degree in pharmacy technology and am currently working on my BA in healthcare management. I have 6 years of experience substitute teaching for middle school-aged children as well as college math tutoring for a community college. I am CPR certified and also taught US Army troops basic life support to deploy overseas.
I prefer a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences in addition to worksheets. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the student. I believe everyone learns differently and you just have to find that nitch.
I hope to hear from students soon. My name is Carlita and I just graduated with a degree in pharmacy technology and am currently working on my BA in healthcare management. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have personal experience with teaching/learning sign language. I had a son with almost no hearing and a special needs child that I taught to sign as well as my other children.
I was hard of hearing for a while and so was my son. I taught my children, niece, nephews, and children of friends ages 12 months to 2 years baby sign as an early communication skill instead of baby talk, crying, and whining. I think it's important to teach children effective communication skills that provide a positive experience.
I also taught many friends and family members to understand baby sign and various techniques to enable them to encourage usage.
I graduated from college with honors in pharmacy technology in Nov 2012. I have been a pharmacy technician since 2000, and I was a pharmacy supervisor in the Army. I have experience in a hospital inpatient/outpatient operations and retail pharmacies.
Public Speaking in front of a targeted audience. I have taken and passed my public speaking class in college with a 4.0 GPA for the semester. I used various techniques to overcome my fear of speaking in front of a group of people.
