Hi! My name is Cheryl and I love teaching! I hold a Lifetime Texas teacher's certificate for all subjects, grades 1-6; a Lifetime Texas teacher's certificate for English and Health, grades 6-12, and an inactive Texas teacher's certificate as a Learning Resource Specialist, which is another word for "school librarian." I have 20 years of teaching under my belt with the most experience being in elementary education. I have also taught middle school and high school English, literature, and vocabulary. I have tutored students of all age levels, including time volunteered as an adult literacy tutor. I love helping students realize how brilliant they are, and I aim to make all of my students lifetime learners.

My son used to rush through his school work in class and that resulted in poor grades; Cheryl has taught him skills that he chooses to use in class to slow down and take his time. He tells when he follows her advice and the positive outcome. My son is ADHD and she is helping him live positively with it. And she has been a great resource for me, the technologically-challenged parent, as we've transitioned to online homework.
You're so sweet! Thank you! It is a privilege working with such a bright student!
Ms. Cheryl helped my son with his project, which required her to work longer hours to get him ready to present his project. She went above and beyond to make sure that he was prepared. We are so thankful that she is working with our son and has formed such a great relationship with him.
Can not say enough on how great Cheryl is with our teenager. She is patient and draws out great conversations and confidence in our HS Freshman.
Thank you! I enjoy working with such a bright young man!
My son really enjoys learning from Miss Cheryl. We have seen much improvement in his writing, but more importantly in his attitude about writing. Thank you Cheryl for your patience and consistency.
Thank you for your kind words. I love working with your son, as he is so eager to learn.
Cheryl is the tutor for my two boys one 8 year old and one 10 year old both of which have ADHD and were several reading levels behind in school. Since they started tutoring with Cheryl both have made huge improvements in their reading levels and are now able to remain in there class all day as opposed to having to leave the classroom for one on one teaching like they have since they started school. In addition both have made great improvements in math as well as all other classes. She has found ways to motivate both of my boys to work and for the first time in their lives they are excited about reading and look forward to going to the library or book store.
Ms. Cheryl provided my daughter great tips on completing math assignments. My daughter was very happy and was able to apply strategies to other math lessons. Very satisfied with tutor.
Provided outstanding instruction to my 3rd grade daughters. Very engaged and in tune with areas of concern. Math skills improved as she confidence in their work.
Miss Cheryl is a wonderful tutor! She is not only an expert in subject matter but also very patient and kind, which makes a student feel comfortable and eager to learn. I am so glad to have her working with my daughter on reading, she truly is an amazing tutor and I would recommend her to anyone! Thank you!!
I am a student in the 2nd grade. I want to thank Mrs. Cheryl because she helps me to be confident and smart. She usually use a funny ways to let me understand what we read. I like her so much.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a Christian since the age of eighteen and, since that time, have been a student of the Bible for the past almost thirty-two years. I have studied the Bible in personal Bible studies as well as through the church and through various Bible classes. Also, as a teacher in Christian schools for 10 years, I taught Bible classes to elementary school students as well as to high school students.
My name is Cheryl, and I have about 20 years of teaching experience. I graduated from West Texas State University in 1984, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English and Health Education. It was science, as opposed to arts, because I had at one time wanted to be a veterinarian and had taken more science courses in college than arts courses. In 2002, when I received my Masters in Education degree, I became a certified Learning Resource Specialist, which is a fancy name for "school librarian." I have taught grades pre-k through high school and also have spent time as an adult literacy volunteer. As well, I have spent many years tutoring both, elementary and secondary students.
When tutoring elementary school students, I employ a variety of teaching tools to accommodate a variety of learning styles. In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I use flashcards, games, and other visual and hands-on teaching aids to help students achieve learning success. I love teaching and I love learning. My goal with any and all students is to make each one a lifetime reader and learner.
I have a lot of games and techniques for helping elementary school kids learn basic math concepts, such as subtraction with regrouping, addition with regrouping, money facts, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, word problems, fractions, and more. I am most skilled in teaching elem. math to grades 1-4, both as a former elem. teacher and as a tutor.
