Philip is very knowledgeable, patient, and instructive. I look forward to the next lesson on photoshop. He is a great teacher.
Great tutoring session! Phillip was very patient and answered all of my questions. He let me show him my way of working on an image and then helped me stream line the steps to get the same end result in less time. I was so excited to learn so much in a short period of time. I will definitely be contacting Phillip for more tutoring in the future.
I had 4 sessions with Philip to learn Adobe Illustrator. He is very patient and even helped me with issues I had with the program after our tutor sessions were over. I just contacted him to do some Photoshop sessions and to follow up on some questions with Illustrator. I can get a hold of Philip quite easily by email and I have had a pleasant experience with him. I would definitely recommend him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've used Adobe Illustrator for graphic design and over a dozen years. I started with Illustrator 8.0 and use the most recent version of Illustrator CS6 20-30 hours per week.
I started using PageMaker in 1990, and transitioned to InDesign in 2002. I have edited approximately 50 magazine issues, as well as industry reports utilizing InDesign.
I've used Photoshop for graphic design and photography for over two decades (since version 3.0 way back then layers were first introduced!)
I have a full time job as a graphic designer (since 1999) and do photography as a side job. So I use the most recent version Photoshop at least 30-40 hours each week.
I utilize Photoshop both for photo optimization and for creative projects utilizing photos.
My OTB rating hovers around the low expert high class A level. I've played several thousand tournament games, coached students, edited four chess books, and almost 50 issues of NW Chess magazine. I'm a fun instructor with a firm grasp of the game.
I have extensive experience in PageMaker and InDesign, having edited/layed out 50+ magazine issues, multiple catalogs and legislative reports as well as several books. In addition I have a digital design degree, and have also won awards in magazine layout.
I’ve been interested in photography for the past twenty years, starting when I worked for various magazines which required in house photography. I gladly jumped to digital cameras as soon as they hit the market, preferring to "dump the darkroom" and put my Photoshop experience (version 3 to CS6) to use.
I’ve had extensive experience in event, fine art, portrait, product, sports, senior and wedding photography. I have the very highest quality lighting equipment and Canon cameras.
I have a design degree from Pierce College, and a Photography Certificate from the University of Washington.
I've been published in various magazines and newspapers throughout the country.
