Dear student or guardian:
I've been teaching or tutoring mathematics and statistics for over 10 years. I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a graduate degree in mathematical statistics. I've taught college level courses in math and statistics in 4 different schools in the Chicago and Austin area. I often call teaching a "hobby" - I enjoy it that much.
Here's how I can help: I'll sit with you and you will work problems. I'll quiz you and point out your missteps. There's no reason to feel badly about mistakes - it's just you and me, and mistakes help me figure out where the problems lie. Mistakes help us both to learn about you. If you need to be taught from the ground up, I can do that. If you want to discover the beauty of mathematics I can walk the road with you. If that road turns into a mountain I can take you by the hidden paths.
I work best with mature students, middle-school and above. I seldom meet a student I cannot help. I know I can help you. Dear student or guardian:

In only one hour, Hector helped me with differentiating between t-tests, Chi square, correlation tables, Anova and post hoc tests. He gave me some tips and tricks and real world examples for application. This has helped me immensely in in preparation for an upcoming statistics test. I am a nurse and have not taken a stats course in over a decade. Hector helped me gain my confidence. He makes learning fun and he's so nice and non-intimidating. I'm lucky to have found him!
Hector is an amazing tutor - very knowledgeable and detail-oriented. He knows the depths of mathematical statistics and can answer absolutely any question about stats! Whenever I didn't understand something, he tried multiple approaches and made sure I fully grasped the concept. I was so lost in the class and ready to give up, but he made me believe that I could actually do this and eventually solve the most complicated problems on my own!
I would recommend Hector to anyone who is struggling with statistics and needs help. He was very patient and kind considering my extreme lack of knowledge in the subject. He is a great teacher.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a B.S. in Mathematics, and an M.A. in Mathematical Statistics. I've tutored Differential Equations in college and afterwards. Assuming the student is working out of a textbook, figuring out how to solve problems here should be a straight-forward.
I have a B.S. in mathematics and an M.A. in mathematical statistics. I have taught Discrete mathematics at the community college level. I have tutored this subject on many occasions.
I was an all-area percussionist in high-school for all 4 years. I have stayed an active drummer for all those years since. I have taught drums on a few occasions.
I have a B.S. in Mathematics (St. Mary's University) and a Masters in Statistics (Rice University). I am an adjunct Professor of Statistics at Austin Community College.
