About Ed

As an academic medical research scientist and American Cancer Society Research Scholar, my career has centered on continuing education and personal development. The most important lesson that I have learned is that hard work, self belief and perseverance are the keys for success. I will challenge my students to reach their fullest academic potential and to help them develop the skills that are necessary for learning.

I have a PhD, and my areas of expertise include Math and Science. I can help students with their high school and college coursework and prepare them for standardized tests including, but not limited to, GRE, SAT, ACT and MCAT.

I have a flex schedule and I can travel to meet them or teach online. My rates are $50 per hour in person and $40 per hour online. I look forward to working with you and helping to lead you to academic achievement and success :-)

I enjoy sharing my love for Mathematics with my students. A firm grasp of mathematical concepts are the foundation blocks for higher education and learning.

I have achieved international success for my work in medical science however, my greatest reward comes from working with motivated students that are interested in challenging themselves to learn new subjects in the biological sciences.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Reading

As a medical research scientist that is commonly engaged in reading scientific literature, I have developed strong critical reading skills. I have used these skills to help students improve their scores on standardized reading tests, such as the ACT and SAT. I find that the most helpful skill for students wishing to improve their critical reading skills is to become "active" readers, that skim, summarize, question and paraphrase the passage they are reading. Concentrated reading of Newsweek articles also helps as they are written in a format that is similar to the passages presented on standardized tests.
