Texas Lutheran University (Mathematics)
I am a 2010 graduate of Texas Lutheran University with a BA in mathematics and minor in music. Since graduating, I have worked at an after-school math learning center tutoring students from kindergarten to non-traditional college students and an in-school math tutoring program in an AISD middle school and two AISD high schools. I have experience working with both advanced students (a kindergartner to whom I taught multiplication, for example) and struggling students, including some with special needs.
I decided to return to college after spending 13 years in the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps when a friend told me that if I could help her understand her daughter's math homework that I should help others with math, as well. I joined the Marines after struggling in college, but found my direction and graduated 20 years after first stepping onto campus. I understand what it's like to both fail and succeed academically, which helps me provide good motivation and support. I have been praised by parents and previous employers for my patience in working with students, since I realize that school can be seen as pointless and a chore.
I try to make math fun and meaningful for all ages. Let me help you! I am a 2010 graduate of Texas Lutheran University with a BA in mathematics and minor in music. My son failed an Algebra 2 test prior to hiring David. He came to us very frustrated and worried about his grade. After 1 tutoring session with David he took his next test and scored 102 out of 100 (extra credit from the review sheets). David helped him to come up with solutions to the problems, and not just plug in the formula. My son feels very comfortable with him. He feels at ease asking questions. They work together well. My son's confidence has grown tremendously! David is willing to stay until my son understands the task at hand. He does not just stop because the hour is up. You pay accordingly, but it is well worth it! I would highly recommend David!
Today was our first session with David and we are very impressed. My 13 year old loved him and is actually looking forward to his tuturing as David made it easy and walked him through every step. We will continue to use him and I'm certain he will get my son to passing and confident in no time. I would highly recommend David.
It was our first lesson but we plan to use David on a regular basis. He was patient and Jake learned a lot!
Thank you David. Your motivation and dedication is to be commended.
The first ASVAB tutor I selected for my niece was a no-show on the first and only meeting. I am grateful that the WyzAnt website allows the option for other tutors, like yourself, to contact clients seeking tutoring services.
Four months ago, my niece tested on practice test #1 at 20 and ASVAB test #1 at 29. In just a few lessons, my niece scored a 50 in practice test #2.
Awesome job, David! You were instrumental in this success and I am thankful.
David helped our son understand pre-calculus. After just two sessions, our son received a 100 on his semester final exam. We plan to hire David to help our son with SAT and ACT math prep help as well. I highly recommend David as a math tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
