Hello, students and parents! With 30 years of experience teaching middle school, high school, and college English, I love to share effective strategies for writing and reading with students to help them succeed. Certified as a Reading Specialist and English teacher, I focus on classroom-tested tips and strategies for idea-finding, organizing, revising, and proofreading writing, for understanding and remembering what was read, and for succeeding with tests such as the ACT, AP, and SAT. With the right strategies and encouragement, my students have made tremendous progress.

Hilda is preparing my son for the Language Arts portions of the SAT/ ACT. Hilda is very knowledgeable in her subject matter. She teaches my son with encouragement and praise. We are pleased with her teaching method, the results we are seeing, and we like her personally. I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
