Bio

I have been a classroom teacher of science for 12 years, including 4 years of AP Physics. My math background and lifelong pursuit of astronomy enable me to tutor in astronomy and algebra with a high degree of expertise.

I generally start tutoring by answering specific questions from the student. This takes care of the student's urgent needs. Then, as I get to know the student and identify areas of weakness, I work intensively to develop the student's ability to independently master those...

I generally start tutoring by answering specific questions from the student. This takes care of the student's urgent needs. Then, as I get to know the student and identify areas of weakness, I work intensively to develop the student's ability to independently master those areas.

The student is always encouraged to interupt me any time they don't understand. I am very good at finding alternative ways to explain things. My ability to reach students at all levels is outstanding.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have engaged in other jobs and activities that involved teaching. These include many astronomy outreach events as well as years as a personal trainer and golf instructor.

Astronomy,

Astronomy

I have been passionate about Astronomy since the age of 8. A bachelor's degree in Mathematics was a step on my way to becoming a professional astronomer. Life intervened and I pursued other careers, but I never lost my love for Astronomy. Although, I am self-taught, I have spent enormous time educating myself to a high level of expertise.

Golf,

Golf

In high school and college I played on the varsity teams and won some tournaments. Over the years I have taught many people successfully to play golf and enjoy the game. More formally, in graduate school at Texas A&M a few years ago, I taught beginning golf to college students. I am competent enough to teach the basics to beginners as well as help more experienced players fine tune their game.

Good session and patient tutor

Rotational dynamics is the topic, he is good and knowledgeable. In the middle of the session after half hour the audio and video were not working for him, but he did continue the session with what he could. Will definitely try him again.

Knowledgeable tutor

My 11th grader had his first lesson with Scott last Sunday. He really liked the way Scott teaches. Scott answered his questions, and also expand the subject and covered more materials for my son's school work.

Excellent Knowledge & Competency in Physics

This was our first online experience and it was a tutoring of AP Physics. Scott was timely and knowledgable. He had excellent communication skills leading up to the session, really having a desire to prepare. My son did struggle with this particular subject, feeling online tutoring was difficult at times. This is no reflection on Scott, but just the limitations of online with a difficult subject.

Great Physics tutor

My daughter stated that it was a very helpful tutoring session as she did not provide much detail prior. He was flexible and open to our schedule which is helpful. Setting up another session.
