I am a retired Math teacher. I taught 2nd and 3rd grade math for 15 years in an elementary school. I taught whole group and small group instruction all throughout my teaching career. I also conducted after-school and Saturday school tutoring while I was teaching.
I also helped prepare students for the State of Texas student assessments in Math at the third grade level, and also prepared students for the ITBS test for second graders. My students, in both assessments, scored above 90% each year.
I strive for students to build knowledge and understanding of the subject matter of math in the teaching and learning process by teaching a topic in different ways to facilitate student mastery.
I am an outstanding math tutor as endeavor to use different methods to teach students to enable them get a thorough understanding of the topic. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
