The program I use helps struggling readers with phonics, comprehension, fluency and spelling as well as handwriting. I have been quite successful and feel certain that I can help your child become a confident reader. I am the Special Education Coordinator and the Resource English Language Arts and Math teacher (Pre k -4th grade) for
$50.00 normal hourly rate for same day cancellations. 24 hour notice required unless emergency.
Following my daughter's first session, Pam gave me several additional strategies for my daughter to use in the classroom next year. I feel confident moving forward that our summer tutoring sessions will be beneficial.
Pam C. Great tutor. She love to work with my son she has so much patience and love what she's doing. She's always there to help with any questions I have for her she wants to be sure that my son gets the lesson she's very passionate about her work And love to help she's always there for my child. She's always going to be my son tutor, thank you for all your hard work.
Pam is a great tutor. She is knowledgeable, patient and is always smiling. My son is always happy to meet with her. Math is now my son's new favorite subject. We are so very happy to have found Pam as a tutor. :) :)??????
Pam is a wonderful teacher. She really listens to my son and his interests. I am amazed with how well my son responded to Pam's ideas of teaching concepts. Pam understood my son's needs and went above and beyond to see that he had every opportunity to succeed. My son is now making straight A's and is now in the correct reading program at his school.
We will be seeing Pam again in the future!!!
Very easy to get along with and seems to know how to make learning fun. My 14 year old actually looks forward to his lessons. I highly recommend Pam.
Pam is excellent! She is energetic and makes learning fun for a first grader. I'm amazed at how much she accomplishes in an hour. She uses various methods to teach and has given us helpful advice on things we can do to help. Our granddaughter looks forward to working with her and asked if she couldn't go more often.
Pam helped our daughter write a paper that counts as a major grade. Pam is very enthusiastic about writing and has a fun personality. I can see that my daughter enjoys working with her and it works well with my daughter's learning style.
3/20/13- Pam is working with my kids on their writing skills and they are responding to her teaching. Pam is up beat and positive and my kids respond to that.
I was very grateful to Pam for going to my daughter's school and meeting with her history teacher to determine what needed to be done so that my daughter could be a successful student. Pam has worked diligently with my daughter to help her transition her learning style from Montessori to public school. As a result, my daughter's grades have improved tremendously, as well as, her confidence. I am not disappointed in her services and look forward to working with her the remainder of the school year.
Pam is a great tutor. She is very patient and has quickly learned those subject areas that are troublesome for my son.
When I first told my boys I had signed them up for tutoring sessions, they each immediately gave me reasons for why they would refuse to attend. However, after having met Pam and spent just one session with her, they have changed their minds and now look forward to their time with Pam. Their willingness to open up and discuss areas where they are struggling and need help, is due in no small part to Pam's ability to put them at ease, and to create a safe environment where they can just focus on learning. We have four sessions under our belt, and remain very happy we found Pam!
Pam saw my son's learning needs and writing blocks in 15 minutes of sitting down with him. Fortunately, she recognized it, was familiar with it, and had a plan to work on it. They hit it off immediately. He is fully engaged every minute he spends with her and has fun discussing what he has read. And then can actually write something about it (types it really) given her patient guidance. Today he tried to hit the 'snooze' button when the alarm went off signaling the end of the session. AND!, rather than just leave, she stayed until he felt they had completed what they were working on. He knows he matters to her. She listens, encourages and responds.
We've never used a tutor before and were intimidated about finding someone who could keep my son interested (there's no Wii stamped on her forehead) and teach him to write a real paragraph or eventually a paper, be worthy of the expense, and not run away in frustration. I'm mom; I want it all for my son.
Boy, were we pleasantly surprised?! We are very blessed to find Pam and look forward to the school year instead of fearing the first English Writing assignment.
We all feel we have made the right choice!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Many of my students have had ADD/ ADHD. I have attended many seminars related to ADHD through the school district where I am employed. I also taught at an Alternative School. My daughter also has ADD /inattentive type.

I am a certified special education teacher for a local school district, with over 15 years' teaching experience. I currently teach resource in reading, math, and English in pre-k through 4th. I taught Home-bound students ages 3-22 in all subject areas for over 10 years.
I have taught math from kinder through 6th grade. My desire is to teach students in a variety of ways so that they learn to love working with numbers and no longer fear them. I have attended many math workshops on teaching students so that they actually understand how they got the answer and why it is either right or wrong. I enjoy bringing students up to their grade level and challenging them to excel until math is their "new favorite" subject.
I have completed all of my coursework towards my master's in Secondary Education. My specialty is teaching reading and writing so that my students learn to love it. I work very well with reluctant learners as well.
I have attended formal training in both the Wilson Reading and the Stevenson Language and Reading program. I have taught phonics to children from pre-school to 7th grade. I personally prefer the Stevenson curriculum and have purchased it for my tutoring business. I like that it combines handwriting, grammar, and reading components at different levels so that students of different ages and skills can have their needs met.
I have a great love for reading and enjoy fostering that same love with my students. I have taught struggling students from K - 12th and enhanced their reading skills in decoding, comprehension, and fluency.
I have extensive experience working with children and young adults with Special needs ranging from severe and profound to high- functioning Autism. I am also well trained in working with students needing physical accommodations.
I currently teach Resource in an elementary school. I have my Bachelor's degree and have completed courses at the graduate level. I have also passed your spelling requirements.
I am able to organize even the most unorganized student and help them to be successful in their learning. I am firm but reasonable in my demands and because I have established a relationship with my students, they succeed.
