About Divya

Hello! I am Divya B. I am in the field of education to make a difference in each child's life - one step a time! When I started college, I obtained a job as a Peer Leader where I helped first year students to learn such skills as time management, test-taking skills, and stress management. I have also worked with Early childhood from Nov. 2010 to Sept. 2013. I currently am employed at Pattonville School District as a Para and a substitute teacher. While at all of these jobs, I made fun, engaging, and educational projects with the students! Being an elementary education major, I have been working hands on with elementary aged students since 2009. I student taught in a 3rd grade classroom and interned in a 4th and 2nd grade class. It has been one of the most fun and challenging experiences! I am fluent in English and Gujarati and also know a little Hindi! I want to work with elementary aged students because I believe that any assistance they receive will only put them a step ahead in reaching their dreams! Hello! I am Divya B. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

There are many reasons as to why I want to tutor elementary. First and foremost, I want to tutor at this level because love for learning starts at an early age and giving the young mind the right aid at the right time is very crucial. I also want to tutor in this group because I love working with this age group. I have a degree in Education and student taught in a 3rd grade classroom and interned in a 4th and 2nd grade classroom. I worked at KinderCare for almost 2.5 years. I currently work at Pattonville School District as a Para and a sub teacher.

Grammar

I am qualified as a grammar tutor for many reasons. First and foremost, I love teaching! I moved to the states in 2000, at the age of 9. I knew I loved grammar as soon I entered my first ESL class. For many years, I dreamt of becoming a teacher. Fast forward to 2013, and I received my bachelors in education. I taught at an elementary school in Missouri for two years where I planned and carried out reading interventions for students in K-5th. I also tutored Indian students in the community and taught them grammar, mathematics, and writing.

Prealgebra

I am qualified as a pre-algebra tutor for many reasons. First and foremost, I love math! I was actually the top pre-algebra/algebra student in middle school. I tutored freshman students in high school when I was in 12th grade. In college, I often helped my peers study for exams by helping them relate to topics to make the learning fun and easy. I have learned many tips and tricks to help your student ACE prealgebra.

Study Skills

I first started teaching study skills in 2009 in my college Freshman classes. It is important to have good study skills in place to ensure a successful education. Some of the skills I teach are time management, test taking skills, and stress management.
