Savannah College of Art and Design (Master's)
I am a recent graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design, earning my Masters in Fine Arts specializing in photography. I create imagery that that ranges from film to digital, traditional to alternative, and experimentation to straight prints. My main objective when making pictures is to capture the essence of a subject no matter the subject matter or process. This has always remained a constant with my photography. I create staged narratives based on conversations, family matters, dynamics of relationships, and dreams. My inspiration is drawn from the aura in which any good photograph possesses whether it’s from a gaze, the mood, scale, color, detail, or just the gut with heartfelt feeling behind a still moment captured.
I look forward to the adventure that lies ahead, no matter where it takes me.
To educate is to become better educated. I believe that when an educator is enthusiastic about his or her work, the passion will show in the classroom and motivate students in a special way. If there is no enthusiasm, the classroom will be a somber place. A higher education provides the tools to foster creativity, exploration and research, technique and constructing the vernacular skills to confidently speak about work.
The role of an educator is to creatively pass along information to students and give them what they need to succeed. As an educator I strive to inspire and encourage creativity. Through exploration, creative exercises, research, readings, discussions and slide shows, students will gain inspiration and knowledge resulting in the exploration of his or her own ideas and concepts. In the classroom, different processes and techniques will be explored through the use of hands on demonstrations because it is my belief that students learn and retain more information when the material is presented in an interactive environment. Students will be encouraged to push the envelope, regardless of the outcome. There are many aspects to be learned through breaking boundaries and taking risks. Taking notes and learning from a successive or failed piece helps to problem solve. Students’ verbal skills and confidence in speaking about work will build through a series of constructive critiques. I will require the participation of every student, giving handouts for written suggestions for the more critical opinions and suggestions.
In a creative field, it is important to remain open-minded. It is also just as important to remember that all students are not the same, I will push each individual into a direction that right for them. It is important to push students in new directions and move them out of their comfort zones to help him or her grow, all the while allowing them to remain true to themselves. My goal is to inspire. I will be the catalyst for new doors of opportunity and new ways of thinking.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
