I enjoy helping students to become more competent and confident in math. During tutor sessions, I focus on the student's homework. With my guidance, the student will learn the material and finish their homework! If supporting math skills are missing, I can provide mini-lessons while we work on the homework.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is the foundation for higher math. It's important to understand Algebra 1 so make sure it's taught right!
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 provides fundamental math concepts that are needed for higher math. Make sure it's taught right!
Calculus,

Calculus

I took calculus classes, previously, while earning my Mechanical Engineering degree. Over the past few years, I re-took college-level calculus classes to sharpen my calculus skills. Specifically, I took classes in Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, and Advanced Calculus (grad level) at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). See note below. Note: Although I have taken Calc. 1, 2, 3, and 4, I restrict my calculus tutoring to Calc 1 or 2 because I like to be a few steps ahead of my students. Also, since Calc 1 and 2 content varies greatly between schools, I expect students to send files with problems they want to work on, in advance of the tutor session. I like to review the problems before tutoring the student.
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry often seems like common sense, but, sometimes it can be tricky. Understanding Geometry provides a good foundation for Trigonometry.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I taught College Algebra, which is similar to Precalculus, for about seven years. I have also tutored many students in Precalculus, from many different high schools. Thoroughly understanding Precalculus provides an excellent foundation for learning Calculus.
SAT Math

SAT Math

SAT Math requires a variety of math skills. Also, the questions often require math techniques not often covered in standard math classes. The ability to do SAT math is improved with practice and experience. ... And more practice!

Great Teacher

She was very helpful with exactly what I asked of her and went above and beyond and did more for me. Very flexible with change and was very diligent with helping me with my work.

Extremely knowledgeable and teaches very well

Kathy has been tutoring my daughter in Algebra 2 and has taken a subject matter, that was confusing and anxiety provoking, and brought understanding and success. My daughter’s grades and confidence are significantly improved. Kathy is also very flexible with her time. We are very pleased snd continue to use Kathy as a regular tutor. I highly recommend Kathy!

Patient and kniwlegable

Kathy is wonderful, we have used her twice and plan on meeting with her twice a week. My girls are in algebra and were struggling and kathy has help them understand equatuion of a line and graphing the equation. My girls are already feeling more confident. It was amazing to have someone that already knew had to help them versus me trying to re learn concepts i learned 30 years ago, taking hours to help them with homework versus an hour. Thank you Kathy..

Charasmatic and clear!

Kathy helped me with College Algebra and was very clear and easy to understand. She explained to me in an hour what my teacher couldn't explain and make clear in a week!

Excellent tutor

She thought my son algebra two.She was fantastic, knowledgeable, skilled and wonderfully patient with my son. Wonderful tutor and very patient with my son. I really think that 160 characters is ridiculous. She was fantastic. This whole be enough

Knowledgeable and patient professional

Kathy taught my daughter several topics in Trigonometry and derivatives and integrals in AP Calculus. I am amazed at how much they have accomplished in an hour. Totally worth every cent--invaluable investment into your or your kids' education.

Vera, 6 lessons with Kathy

Great first session!

She helped me with Algebra 2 homework that I was struggling on. Her teaching style is different from my teacher at school and easier to understand. With school classes half on line and not much in person or one on one time available, this was a very helpful way of getting caught up and learning process.
