North Dakota State University (BS Civil Engineering)
I work during the days as a Structural Engineer IT and am looking to tutor evenings and/or weekends. I graduated with honors with a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Mathematics.
I also have experience in Management and Corporate training that have provided me the skills to communicate to multiple types of personalities and learning abilities.
It is my goal to help my students not only understand math and engineering concepts, but find appreciation and get excited about being able to solve problems. I am a firm believer that anyone can become good at math and actually enjoy math - even the creatively inclined. I am here to help.
I do math all day every day for my job to design large buildings including hospitals, sports buildings and more. I have a love for math and focus in applications to real world problems and situations which make math relatable to you - so you actually want to use math!
A little about my educational background:
I originally started with a focus in Architecture, earning an AAS Architectural Drafting Degree and then 1 year of BS Architectural studies with a 4.0 grade average. I had very little math experience to start and I loved the creativeness of Architecture, but decided to challenge myself farther and switched to civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering. This meant that I had to switch from a world of art and design and train my brain to math, take summer classes and catch up. If you struggle with math, don't worry - even I have been in your shoes. But I can assure you there is hope. You can not only become good at math, but confident enough to think through problems you've had little experience with and be able to find a solution. I work during the days as a Structural Engineer IT and am looking to tutor evenings and/or weekends. I graduated with honors with a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Mathematics.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
