About Gad

Hi! I'm Gad; education-loving, performance-focused, easy-to-work-with tutor. I have a BS in Chemistry from Yale University, MS in Organic Chemistry from UCLA, and MBA in Marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, plus awards in teaching from the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation.

You are most likely looking for a tutor who can give your student the competitive skills and learning strategies necessary to succeed in school today and in the rapidly-changing real world. I can do that, and not just in the sciences in which I specialized. My all-around experience gives your student the opportunity to excel in multiple subjects.

I work very well with kids and young adults, and can adjust to meet their learning styles. For example, right now, I'm tutoring a college student who has ADHD and a high school student who has difficulty with social interactions. Additionally, I can make the learning experience enjoyable. If you are looking for that kind of tutor, let's talk!

Feel free to contact me. You can schedule a free consultation to assess your student's needs and find out if I'm the right person to meet them. We can meet and work together anywhere in the Dallas area, including the outlying suburbs.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best,

Gad

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I have a lot of experience in classwork, lab techniques and teaching in general chemistry. My teaching approach is to give students critical thinking skills so they can solve problems with confidence. My qualifications include an MS in organic chemistry from UCLA. I had the top grade in my class of graduate students, and was the first to pass the required number of monthly cumulative exams. I was a teaching assistant in general chemistry.

Organic Chemistry

I believe I am qualified to tutor Organic Chemistry because I have a lot of experience in classwork, lab techniques and teaching. I'm comfortable in all these areas, and especially love teaching. The fun is in inspiring students to see Organic Chemistry as a window into life, more than just a course they have to take.

My qualifications include an MS in Organic Chemistry from UCLA. I had the top grade in my class of graduate students, and was the first to pass the required number of monthly cumulative exams.
During that time, I was a teaching assistant in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry classes, both lecture and lab. I won the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Award for Excellence in Teaching both years, and received the the top rating of all the teaching assistants each year, as well. I loved working with the students, and made myself available when they needed help, beyond the usual office hours. I often found ways to explain complex concepts in simpler, more concrete terms that students could become comfortable with. For example, the idea of orbitals as houses for electrons was pretty popular, and seemed to help reduce student anxiety when learning Quantum Chemistry.

Prior to graduate school at UCLA, I received a BS in Chemistry at Yale University. During that time, I took the required undergraduate courses, plus three graduate level courses: Advanced Organic Chemistry, Quantum Chemistry (included Org Chem concepts) and Synthetic Organic Chemistry.

I spent the summer between Yale and UCLA working as a synthetic organic chemist at 3M company in St. Paul, Minnesota.
