About Jonathan

Students:

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile.

Please note: I only offer sessions online via WyzAnt's platform or via Skype. (no in-person meetings)

I assist in two ways-

1) I can simply tell you exactly how to solve problems and point out exactly how teachers/professors want to see solutions on exams in order to achieve maximum credit and minimize studying e.g. 2-4hrs per week with me is equivalent to studying 10-20 hours per week on your own. Most students bring homework, and we complete the assignments together in great detail.

2) I provide in-depth lessons for students that are STEM majors and require a deep knowledge of the subject(s). A lesson of this fashion consists of thorough and precise explanations on definitions, theorems, properties and how to incorporate them into problem solving. The general outcome is a higher-level skillset that will allow the student to grasp more complicated topics and apply this understanding on exams and outside of the classroom.

Parents:

Thank you for considering me for your child’s benefit.

Please note that the only high school level course I offer tutoring for is Calculus (not precalculus), and the high school student must have a desire to major in a STEM related field in college.

Courses currently offered: Calculus I/II/III, Business Calculus I/II, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Several Variable Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra, Matrices and Vectors, Differential Equations and some variations of the courses if combined -- please inquire.

Disclaimer: I only accept students that are willing to meet weekly for a minimum of 2-hours throughout the semester. If the student misses 2-sessions without rescheduling, all future sessions will be terminated. I do offer a free 1-hour session upon request in order for students to be exposed to the “online experience” prior to committing; please request this session in your email to me. Note, I do not offer free sessions for students not interested in regular session and the free session is more of a meet & greet than a full session.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I have multiple years of experience working through hundreds of different levels and variations of Calculus courses at the college level ranging from basic business calculus courses to advanced engineering. I have written and published a few preparatory books, guides and crash courses on calculus and have produced thousands of educational videos via YouTube.

Calculus is the alphabet of science and algebra is the grammar. A Student must learn to write stories in order to succeed. In a Calculus and any other upper division course, the answer to a problem is not important, it is the solution and the solution must be written with the utmost precision. I can help prevent serious point-loss on exams due to incorrect mathematical grammar and show what material to focus on in order to gain maximum potential for higher grades. To date: I have solved approximately 50,000 calculus problems.

Differential Equations

Differential equations is not a difficult class, in fact if one knows how to do Calculus proficiently and understands how to "plug-and-chug" a formula DE is a breeze. I took this class over a 4 week summer course while working full time and passed it with flying colors.

As a tutor this course is the most simple to reiterate to students. I currently am working with a company on applying a transform of a first order Differential Equation with other functions involving the PID method an inputting the Laplace Transformation in order to complete a looping energy flow as a mathematical description as a second order Differential Equation.

If you are concerned about this class, you should not be. As long as your Calculus is good this class will be a breeze. I can show you how easy it is.

Linear Algebra

I have over two years of Linear Algebra experience ranging from business applications, engineering applications, and physics applications, and have created youtube videos geared towards tutoring the subject.

I have helped many students at the University of Dallas take their grades in Linear Algebra from D's, F's and worse to either a passing grade or A's. Linear Algebra is a relatively new subject so many professors just do not have the curriculum down. I have taken many Linear Algebra courses, from simple to advanced, and I have learned what is important to point out to beginners so that they do not get lost in the subject and can keep up with the course as it progresses.

Calculus 2

After our tutor session with Jonathan, my son said "Jonathan is SOO good! He knows everything about everything!! Recommend him to everyone!!" I wish I could rate him ABOVE a 5! Also, even though we were a bit unsure about on-line tutoring, it went so well that my son now prefers on-line tutoring.
