The spark of revignition that appears in the eyes of a child the moment they truly comprehend a new concept is magnificent to observe; knowing you have been part of the child's success is genuinely fulfilling.
My experience teaching has been gleaned primarily by assisting my own children aged 9 to 18 with their study skills, confidence & daily homework. I have one dyslexic child whose path to success as a pre-AP middle school student has required creativity and patience. I have about 15 years of Faith Formation teaching experience; grades k-8. I substitute taught for a year at a Massachusetts elementary school. I have also managed a team of staff during my 15+ years working as a tax specialist. My communication skills, both written and oral are excellent. I have written and published blog articles. I am a winning participant in collegiate Oxford debate team. My passion is literature and writing. I am also adept with excel, I have in depth knowledge of budgeting, finance, accounting, general business concepts, economics, and basic contract law. I am also capable in basic math, public speaking, study skills, time management, testing technique (CPA exam passed first time, all four subjects - 16 hour, 2 day exam), and proofreading/checking work.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
