Isabelle N. Altier
Knowledgeable & patient tutor
We are very pleased that Isabelle is tutoring our son, who has a language disorder. Isabelle is knowledgeable, patient, and takes the time to listen to our suggestions and concerns. Isabelle has been working with our son on various expressive, receptive, and social language skills. She is knowledgeable with language, a good combination between a language teacher and a speech language pathologist. She also works with our son in other academics & learning areas like reading comprehension, working on figurative language, practicing working memory & auditory skills. In addition, she works with our son on pre-writing skills like helping him to organize his ideas using outlines and graphic organizer. If your child needs help on language skills, reading comprehension, writing skills, and other language/academics areas, please do not hesitate to reach out to Isabelle. After one lesson, we are certain you will be impressed with the quality of her lessons and teaching style.Quynh, 56 lessons with Isabelle
Isabelle helped my 10 year old with how to construct an essay. She is organized, thorough, patient and the perfect tutor. She sent him an essay question to email back to her prior to their first meeting so she could properly prepare and she delivered. He really learned quite a lot in that 1 hour already. She then gave him homework and sent prompts in essay writing to learn from and aid him in his writing. Can't wait for more lessons with her.Liv, 4 lessons with Isabelle
Can’t say enough good things about Isabella. She is experienced and knowledgeable. She quickly and accurately identifies areas that my child is having problems and sets up each class to work on it. Her feedback is immediate, detailed and organized. She is patient and engaging with my child. I highly recommend her. Would give 10 stars if I could.Jaepil, 59 lessons with Isabelle
A hidden gem
We feel so luck to have found Isabelle on Wyzant on the first try. She immediately responded to our request to set up a lesson and was able to squeeze us into her busy schedule. My son is a reluctant reader and writer. Hence, he was not keen on starting tutoring. He is also a bit shy and slow to warm up on the first encounter. I informed Isabelle of his temperament before their first lesson, and she incorporated this knowledge to make him feel at ease with warm up exercises. She was able to connect with him quickly. Isabelle is warm, encouraging, and patient. She was able to quickly assess what my son had difficulty with and came up with a clear and organized plan on how to tailor her lessons to his needs. She kept me informed of her lesson plans and her rationale behind her approach. I really appreciated her openness to my feedback and her willingness to collaborate with me. Isabelle is very clear in her communication and her teaching style. My son had learned various methods of writing a 5-paragraph essay using the 4 square method, the hamburger/sandwich method, and the like with other teachers. It never really made sense to him until Isabelle taught him how to use the graphic organizer. The way she explained things intuitively made sense for him. My son who struggled to write down his thoughts and often sat in front of a blank paper feeling enormously frustrated with himself, finally started to feel confident in his ability to present his thoughts in an organized manner. He has made great progress in a short period of time and looks forward to his lessons with Isabelle.Hyo-Jin, 33 lessons with Isabelle
Knowledgeable, great and patient tutor!
Isabelle did an outstanding job adjusting her teaching to meet our daughter Sasha's learning style. She's been so great and patient with Sasha and with us as parents trying to have her learn this way for the first time. Isabelle is very knowledgeable and gave us and Sasha great tips for studying. She is also very patient and makes sure that Sasha understands a concept before moving on. We are really impressed with Isabelle. English is not the native language of our daughter, but she understands the concept of English and has been writing difficult essays and reading non-fiction books in English. Her cursive writing has significantly improved this year and we couldn't be happier with how Isabelle is teaching her English. Sasha has also learned much better study habits and organizational skills under Isabelle. We would strongly recommend Isabelle to other parents. She is great!Olga, 83 lessons with Isabelle
Big fans here!
My 6 year old son and I love Isabelle! We were told by his teacher that he was behind in ELA and Isabelle has already made him feel more confident after two lessons. She is patient, knowledgeable, and keeps him engaged! He actually seems excited when it’s his time to see her even after a day of school/zoom meetings!Amanda, 27 lessons with Isabelle

A Great Teacher
Isabelle is a great teacher with much warmth and compassion! Her teaching style is structured and systematic. I appreciated her use of graphic organizers and visuals to break down concepts for my nine-year-old, as well as support her cognitively and visually to understand figurative language. She sustained her attention and made learning a pleasant experience. Thank you, Isabelle, for tapping into my daughter's own interests and making learning truly engaging!Manal, 22 lessons with Isabelle
