Over the past three years, I have helped students with specific and general learning differences achieve their grades and test score goals.
I have a bachelor's degree in education from Texas Wesleyan University, and over 10 years of public school teaching experience. I have taught at the primary, secondary, and collegiate levels. I have a master's degree in psychology and special education from Texas A&M University in Commerce, and am working towards a PhD. in cognition and instruction. I enjoy working with students of all ability levels, and I work very hard to customize lessons to fit a student's educational abilities and needs. I also try to make learning engaging and fun, while still underscoring the need for hard work.
As an educational psychologist, I have completed many hours of advanced coursework, and I am well-versed in the current research regarding learning, memory, and instructional practices. I utilize this knowledge to identify underlying processing difficulties that may be interfering with learning, and to design a specialized strategy for achieving the desired results. In addition, I have a thorough understanding of effective study skills, organization, and test-taking skills. ** Subjects: math, all levels

Cindy has been great!! My son shows a stark interest in Algebra now and he's improving his grade, and is excited about his test and quizzes, he said himself he rates Cindy a 10. I'm loving the enthusiasm he's been displaying since working with her, we will definitely keep working with Cindy.
Cindy is very patient, extremely knowledgable and thorough. I highly recommend Cindy to tutor your child. Her qualifications are amazing and I could not ask for anyone better. My daughter is ADHD and really responds to Cindy. #tutorforlife
Thank you, Shannon! I'm glad you found me!
Cindy is great! I love that she knows what PISD will expect my daughter to know going into 4th grade; and what concepts will be taught this year. She's very knowledgeable on the STAAR testing and we felt good going into it. She has been very patient with my daughter all summer. Trying many different ideas to engage her in math (not an easy task); and has hit on a few. She is one smart lady; I knew she had an upper level student she was tutoring in O Chem. She does it all!
Thank you for the kind words, Amy! It is a pleasure working with your kiddo!
So far, we really like Cindy!! We were very impressed with the fact that she did an assessment on our child prior to developing a plan! Others offered or wanted to offer a plan before assessing, which made us wonder. Additionally, we are very impressed with the learning environment she has for her students. It's very calming but packed with resources that can entice and engage the student. Today was our first lesson and Cindy took the time to talk one-on-one with our child to find out what she enjoyed doing, which in turn was used in class to complete her lesson. Our child loved it and is ready for the next class!!
Excellent tutor who continues to successfully assist my daughter in progressing in every subject she's previously struggled with! We're so very blessed to have found Cindy!
Cindy has worked diligently (and yet is still very patient and soothing) with our 8 year old daughter, who struggled immensely this past 2nd grade school year. The progress I've seen in my daughter since starting tutoring lessons with Cindy to date is absolutely astounding! Although we have a ways to go, Cindy's assistance (specifically in math, reading, and comprehension) has been absolutely profound and I see the positive results in my daughter now!
My daughter can easily talk to Ms. Cindy, and gets all questions answered the first time! Highly recommend Cindy for advanced middle school math tutoring.
I received a text today from the daughter that read, "I got a 97 on my quiz today in Algebra, Like that's the highest I've gotten all year, that tutor actually helped". I think that says it all. Thank you Cindy.
Thanks for the feedback. That's fantastic! Way to go, girl!
I found Cindy while looking for a study/college writing tutor. She has been fantastic!! My essay grades increased from low B's to A's, and I ended up with an 88 in the class. She is easily accessible and really helps you get things accomplished. A+ and 5 stars.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have completed all coursework for a PhD in educational psychology, which requires advanced coursework in learning, memory, attention, instructional practices, and special needs. I have past teaching experience with gifted students who have learning disabilities such as ADHD and dyslexia. I also raised two children who were both diagnosed with ADHD, so I understand the challenges of parenting these students.
Algebra is probably the most important math course that a person ever takes. Why is this? Because all subsequent math courses build upon the basic skills and concepts of algebra. Having a good foundation is important. I have been helping students with algebra for many years, and it is one of my favorite things to teach. I have studied mathematics education at the University of Cincinnati and online at Western Governor's University. I have been a member of the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, and participated in national conferences. I am committed to helping my students see the beauty of mathematics, relating it to their everyday lives, and experiencing success.
I have a degree in elementary education from Texas Wesleyan University, as well as a grade 1 - 8 Texas teaching certificate. I have more than 10 years of public school teaching experience, a master's degree in gifted education, and I am completing my dissertation for my PhD in educational psychology.
I have completed coursework for a PhD in cognition and instruction. I have done research in the fields of problem solving and the testing effect, and have extensive knowledge of learning and memory. I use my knowledge of human memory research to help students improve their learning by teaching them specific memory techniques, increasing their processing speed, and making the most efficient use of their study time by providing topic-specific learning strategies.
