About Jason

I am a PhD student at the Catholic University of America, and am living in Plano while I work on my dissertation. I have studied at two liberal arts universities and have a strong background in a variety of subjects.

I recently assisted with all aspects of a Master's thesis, from crafting a thesis, proofreading, citation and final drafting/review. I have authored a number of papers over the course of my study, generally 20+ pages in length. I am happy to assist with term papers and/or college entrance essays.

Please feel free to message me, and I will be happy to discuss your particular needs and concerns.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have previously worked with another company to provide ACT Math prep.

Algebra 1

I have taken math courses up through Calculus III at the university level. Since graduating with my bachelor's, I have tutored students in Pre-Algebra and Algebra, both privately as well as worked with a tutoring company. In the latter instance, I provided lessons for both Pre-Algebra and Algebra, as well as that which appears on the SAT and ACT.

I taught Pre-Alebra and Algebra at a summer program for 7th-9th graders in Washington, D.C.

I scored above the 90th percentile in the math category on the GRE.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored students at this level through several programs. In high school, I was required to perform a number of service hours as a graduation requirement (between 20 and 100 hours each year). I earned the bulk of these hours tutoring a variety of students at my former elementary school (St. Philip the Apostle, Dallas, TX). I primarily worked in English and Math and secondarily with spelling and reading.

While working at Akin Gump law firm in Dallas, the firm partnered with a local public elementary school to provide monetary and material assistance, as well as allowing many of its employees an hour a week to tutor children at this school. I volunteered and was assigned to the 2nd grade, where I worked with students in reading and math.

At a former tutoring company, I worked with younger students as they worked through the company's proprietary study skills and reinforcement program in reading and English.

Government & Politics

I am currently a PhD Student in American Politics/Political Theory, and recently earned my Master's degree in this field. I have taught several undergraduate classes in US Government, Texas Government and Ancient Politics at two colleges (Huston-Tillotson University and Austin Community College).

Prealgebra

I have taken math courses up through Calculus III at the university level. Since graduating with my bachelor's, I have tutored students in Pre-Algebra, both privately as well as worked with a tutoring company. In the latter instance, I provided lessons for stand-alone Pre-Algebra, as well as that which appears on the SAT and ACT.

I taught Pre-Alebra and Algebra at a summer program for 7th-9th graders in Washington, D.C.

I scored above the 90th percentile in the math category on the GRE.

Proofreading

In addition to the Editing/Proofreading qualifications listed above, I have extensive writing experience from my own graduate studies. My Master's and Doctoral program placed a strong emphasis on writing, and almost all of my classes required papers of 20+ pages in length.

A great help, and very responsive — I've used a number of tutors over the past few years, particularly as I have been wrapping up my Master's degree in History. Jason is by far the most educated of those that I have used, as well as being the most responsive to my needs and emails. Aside from being very knowledgeable, he was extremely helpful, always polite and courteous. I would certainly recommend that you seek out his assist ...
