It is so delightful to improve our young students' skills in language courses and testing techniques. I believe education is to light a fire in the minds of students and cultivate the love of reading and learning all through their lives. With many years of teaching English (reading and writing) and a native knowledge of Mandarin, I can tutor in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), in grammar, writing, critical reading, maths, SAT, and TOEFL. I am a pleasant tutor to work with and the students would feel more comfortable to work with me.
I tutor high school students and undergraduates at colleges, so I know how students write and should write.
I am a mom, too, and I love kids and take care of each kid's needs. I am an encouraging tutor and can schedule different hours. See you soon! Daisy continues to create innovative and instructive lessons for my son. His one hour sessions with her are very productive and he is learning a great deal from her. She is a wonderful teacher.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native Chinese (Mandarin) speaker and lived in China for 40 years, teaching English and translation. So both my Chinese and English are excellent, considering teaching and tutoring K-12 and college students. I also have a linguistic background, so I know how to teach these two languages in terms of pronunciation, grammar, speaking, and writing.
I have been teaching ESL/ESOL for 20 years. I got a Bachelor's degree in English teaching and Master's in Linguistics, so I know how to teach non-native English speakers, to help them enhance their communication skills and writing techniques for their future careers and jobs.
Languages are universal. Once you know one language, you can start learning on more! Come and experience the excitement of learning a foreign language!
