My name is Michaela, and I hope you are doing well! I graduated summa cum laude from McMurry University with a degree in Music Education with a minor in Curriculum and Instruction. I tutored during my time at McMurry, working with a variety of people from a diverse array of areas of study, ranging from newly graduated high school students to adults looking to achieve their dreams of going back to earn a degree. My primary instrument is the French Horn, though I have tutored and started students on other brass instruments as well.

After graduation, I spent time as an assistant band director, working with middle and high school students. In the summer of 2021, I earned my Level I of my Kodaly Pedagogy, honing my skills in general musicianship, sight singing, and interval recognition. Currently, I teach elementary (pre-k through 5th), while also still assisting with students from grades 6-12. I cover a wide variety of essential music skills, such as tone development, rhythmic capability, range and flexibility, and how Audiation plays a crucial role in one's overall success on the horn. Regardless of the age of my students or the people I have helped via tutoring, nothing has been more rewarding than watching someone realize their potential and achieving their goals.

Some of the best teachers I have had the pleasure of learning from always made their lessons engaging and accessible to everyone. I focus my efforts on finding what will make learning the most successful and enjoyable for each individual. Whether you feel as if you are behind, or just looking to get ahead, I tailor my lessons and content to both your needs and goals.

If you have any questions or just want to learn more, please don't hesitate to contact me. I hope to be part of your educational journey and I can't wait to see how you grow and succeed!

knowledgeable and patient tutor

The tutor started to ask for my son’s goal and the areas that he needs help on even before the first session. After the first session my son felt he learned a lot from the tutor and was very happy with her teaching style and patience.
