About Martha

I am currently a college student pursuing a career in physical therapy. During high school I was involved in a program called Americorps. Our program was based volunteering our time helping youth in need in our communities throughout the Rio Grande Valley. One of the volunteering jobs that was done was tutoring and mentoring throughout the school systems, libraries, and after school programs. This is where I gained all my experience tutoring in all subjects for all different grade levels. I enjoyed tutoring students so much when I began taking college courses, I became a tutor for each class subject I was taking.
I love tutoring because you never know what you're going to get or what challenge you might have to face in order to find a solution for whatever problem may be at hand. I love meeting and working with new people! Most of all I love the feeling of helping someone achieve their goal and feeling good about themselves to believe that they can do anything they put their mind to.

Math has never been my best subject until I took my college algebra class. I've never had a good teacher to actually take the time and have the patience to explain everything step by step until I met my math professor. Her teaching style helped me to grow and improve my math skills so much I aced her class and was recommended to be an supplemental instructor for college algebra. I also volunteer my time as a math tutor in a community college and I also tutor friends and family in anything to do with math.

Science has always been my best and favorite subject! Because my career requires a great deal of math and science background, I always try to make sure these are my strongest subjects. I also tutor anatomy and physiology and chemistry.

Patience is the most important key factor in tutoring! I am patient, caring, and dedicated. I want to help everyone and anyone that needs or wants my help! I'm here and willing to guide you and help you find solutions to solve any problem, give me all you have and I will give you my all!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
