Hi, My name is Mr. T. to my students and Jeff to my friends and family. I currently teach middle school in Austin. I teach a engineering and robotics class, and I've been doing this for over 3 years now. Before I became a teacher, I was an engineer for over 15 years. I was fortunate to attend MIT for graduate school where I had to learn lots of physics and math. I think teaching and tutoring has always been my destiny because as a freshman in college, I tutored juniors and seniors in physics as well as some high school students in math.
Now don't think that I am some geek.. I'm not! Although I'm good at math, science, and engineering, I don't eat, sleep and breathe it. I'm an outdoors person. In my spare time, I love to fish, hunt, camp, and garden. I'd rather be outside than inside. I also love to cook and try new foods with my family.
I am looking forward to helping you with your subject. Many times, the key to "getting it" is as simple as having the right example to help you to relate to the problem.
I always got A's in math... and I had to take a lot of math for my engineering degrees.
I had to take college physics... lots of it. I enjoy it.... I employ examples to show people how physics works.
If you are needing some help with math or physics, contact me so we can figure out if I can help you. Most times, all you need is to have the material explained a different way in order to get it. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My degrees are in Engineering, so I've had to learn lots of math. I've been tutoring Math, Physics, and Engineering formally and informally every since my freshman year of college. Currently, I help the 7th grade math department at my school plan for the weekly lessons, so I have access to the 7th grade curriculum and study materials to help you.
