I hold a Texas Teaching Certificate in Composite Science (which means I am qualified to teach any science course in grades 9 to 12). I have taught for 33 years. I retired from Pearland ISD after teaching science there for 13 years. At PHS I taught Chemistry, Introductory Physics and Chemistry, and Earth and Space Science. I was also Chairman of the Science Department. I have also tutored students for the 8th grade STAAR test. I taught science for 3 years at HISD and for 17 years at Saint Agnes Academy.
My tutoring methods include: re-teaching and reviewing course material, assisting with homework, preparing for tests, and tutoring for the Chemistry STAAR.

We are extremely pleased with Patricia. We engaged her recently to tutor my nephew who was struggling in Chemistry. She is not only competent and knowledgeable, but organized, efficient, and personable. I really appreciate how she writes a detailed summary after each lesson and keeps me informed of my nephew's progress and needs. I find her to be proactive and always makes suggestions with my nephew's best interests in mind. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students. We have only been working with Patricia for a month, but so far she has exceeded expectations. I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am very qualified to tutor for the Science STAAR test because I have taught all subjects that are covered on the Science STAAR test. I have been a contract STAAR review teacher in Pearland ISD for two years since I retired. When I was an active teacher and chairman of the Science Department I developed and taught after-school classes for the STARR test. My method of reviewing for STAAR is hands-on. I use tactile methods to teach and actual questions from previous STAAR tests to assess.
