About Tosha

I graduated with my Master's in Education for Special Education in 2011. I have also obtained my Bachelor's in Science for Psychology. I was in Nursing school for 2 years. I have plenty of knowledge in all nurse, science, and special needs related courses, psychology classes, and in general classes such as English and Math. I have tutored people in my classes to help them better understand the subjects. I'm one who likes to see the student at least try and try again. I'm not one to just give you the answers or let you give up. I will use your interests to make the lessons make more sense to you. I have just recently finished my first year of being a Special Education Teacher in a local Elementary school. I graduated with my Master's in Education for Special Education in 2011. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Not only did I go to school for Special Education, but I also have a daughter who has ADHD that I work with on a daily basis. I know ways to get and keep a child's attention during lessons and keep them focused on what they need to learn.

I went to school for Special Education and I also have worked with autistic students. I helped them during class time and kept them going the right direction. I have also worked with autistic students throughout my subbing days within the school district. I was also fortunate to attend an autistic seminar last summer to learn the best strategies when working with them as well.

Special Needs

I'd like to be certified in this subject because I have the passion to help those students with special needs. I am currently going to graduate school to get my M.A. in Special Education. I like to help the students that want to succeed but feel they can't because of their disabilities and needs. I want to show them that they can do anything they want to if they put their minds to it. I've taken courses such as Children with Special Needs, Child Psychopathology, Philosophical Perspectives, Classroom Management, Human Growth and Development, etc. I would love to help any student ranging from a very slight speech problem all the way to MR students, etc.

After being a Special Education Teacher and STAAR administrator, I am familiar with sample test questions and how to prepare for answering them. I have administered both STAAR and STAAR A assessments since 2011. Paper assessments were all given orally to my students who received oral administration for all exams they took.

Working with students last year in preparing for the TAKS helped me learn what students need to work on to prepare for the test.
