Michigan Technological University (Civil Engineering)
I earned my B.S. in civil engineering from Michigan Tech. I worked my way up the engineering ranks doing both public and private sector work. But after 16 years, I found that fun and the challenge were gone. So I decided to try my hand at teaching and I've never been sorry. I have spent the last 10 years tutoring in Colorado, for a commercial tutoring operation. I have worked with students from age 6 to age 36, in all levels of math, physics, and test prep. Family concerns have recently brought my family and me to Texas. So I need to build a new student base.
I excel in all areas of math up through calculus. I have conducted quarterly ACT and SAT prep classes for the last 6 years. And I also have 4 years experience in study skills. If you or your student is frustrated, intimidated, desperate, or just want to get ahead, I can help. And if you're not careful, you just might laugh once in a while.
Once the goal is determined, I will help you along whatever path you choose. If math is a struggle and there are more math classes to come, I will help you determine what building blocks are missing, if any, and how to move ahead. Effective use of the text book is also a key strategy I focus on. If you are just confused by a particular section, I will help you work through it. If you are an excellent student, but have one too many AP classes on your plate, I will help you keep up. If you are desperate to pass a final exam or individual test, I will help you prepare. I will tailor the program to the needs of the individual.
If you are worried about ACT or SAT, I can help you in many ways. Not only will I show you how to solve the problems, I'll show you the tips, tricks and strategies to get you through all the sections more quickly.
If you are interested in making better use of your study time, I can show you strategies that will help you get more done in the same time, and retain more of the information.
If any of these areas interest you, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would love to help find your answers. I earned my B.S. in civil engineering from Michigan Tech. Finding a knowledgeable tutor can be difficult, especially since there is such a demand for tutors. We feel lucky to have found Bryan, we aren't limited to just one thing because he is able to help with all the important hard stuff! My daughter enjoys her sessions and says that Bryan "makes it make sense". The greatest thing is that my daughter comes out of the session with a huge smile of confidence, and that is priceless! I look forward to the rest of the school year and I am positive her grades will reflect his help.
Review for Algebra 2 for final exam. He does not get upset when my son does not remember things and patiently reviews what he needs to know.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught a pharmacy math class at Odessa College, dealing with the math required on the pharmacy technician test for the State of Texas. I am only looking to tutor the math involved, nothing regarding the medicines.
