Bio

I teach Pre-AP Chemistry at a large public high school in Colleyville, Texas. I've taught all levels of Chemistry for 10 years, AP Chemistry for the last five years. I've tutored all levels of math and science, SAT and ACT test prep. Recently I relocated from the Houston area to Dallas/Fort Worth. I enjoy helping students develop study skills and discover their own discipline. My goal as a teacher and tutor is to draw out the maturity and dedication necessary for students to succeed...

I teach math from elementary to Algebra as a science teacher. My strength outside science is math. I scored a 740 on SAT math at age 16 and have been tutoring math off and on since college. As pure as any content area gets, I teach the simplicities of Algebra 2 focusing on clear, concise handwork and simple study skills. Much of the struggles students find in Algebra lie in a lack of guided practice with repetition. I provide that. The rest is up to the student.
Anatomy

Anatomy

I worked in medical prosthetics and organ and tissue transplant for ten years before becoming a teacher, so my background is in anatomy and physiology. This is one of my strongest content areas. I have written anatomy and physiology exams for science competitions focusing on various organ systems. I taught A&P for health professionals at a vocational school while working in the healthcare field.

I scored well in biochemistry as part of my bachelor's degree in biomedical science. I have studied and taught biochemistry and pharmacology as a tutor and have interest in the subjects.

As part of my degree plan in college I studied biology (2 semesters), biochemistry (2 semesters), anatomy and physiology, virology, and microbiology accumulating a 3.8 science GPA. I am a high school science department chair and have been teaching and tutoring science and math for seven years. I tutor high school biology and AP Biology students. I am versed in and follow Texas TEKS and the College Board curricula, respectively. I have contributed to TEK based review materials for high school biology and am a huge fan of the Campbell Biology textbook!

I have a bachelor's degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M which required 24 credit hours of chemistry in addition to upper level courses requiring chemistry as a prerequisite. I have been teaching and tutoring Texas high school chemistry and college chemistry for 10 years as team leader at the Pre-AP and AP level.

Very knowledgeable about the subject and work my son is being assigned. Is able to explain it well and in a way my son understands. He has a calm voice and demeanor that removes the stress from my son about this subject. I highly recommend him!
