Hey there, I'm Jen! I have a degree in Comparative Literature from Columbia University. I'm a native English speaker with a passion for languages and literature, plus a background in the sciences. I've developed an interdisciplinary way of teaching others about the natural world, as well as the societies and stories that abound in its history. Some of us learn better through metaphors, through humor, through games, or even roleplaying! I find it essential and so rewarding to uncover how you/your student learn best. Too often do we assume that a test score shows how well a person retains knowledge, while forgetting that true learning comes from life experience and an active imagination that allows us to see the world in a different way. Tests and curriculums may be standardized and structured, but know that our sessions will as much encourage your student's/your questions, since those are the fuel to better learning!

LESSONS IN THE LIFE SCIENCES:
I specialized in biomedical sciences and conducted my own research projects since I was in high school! From growing cancer cells and running experiments to understand the ins and outs of cell biology, I love to show people how to ask the right questions, dig deeper, and think critically to truly understand how things work in the natural world.

LESSONS IN THE HUMANITIES:
Humans have learned through storytelling and conversation all throughout history, and I can show you how ALL literary skills begin from those basics! Whether it's improving how you navigate the tricky SAT Reading/Writing section, write a powerful essay or research paper, or approach difficulties with any text or subject material, I've coached and really gotten to know those I teach.
