I have tutored people in all levels of math since I graduated from college with a degree in Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin. I also have a Master's in Statistics from UTSA. The levels of math include Basic math and Algebra through Calculus, Probability and Statistics. Tutoring math is something I have a passion for...something I am very good at. Understanding how a student is viewing a problem and guiding them to understanding it themselves is very rewarding. There is nothing like seeing that light bulb come on. If the student wants to learn, I am there for them.
I feel that I am very patient in my tutoring. I have the knowledge and what I do is to listen and pay close attention to how a student is viewing a certain problem. There are often many ways that a student can get sidetracked when working through math problems. When I recognize how they are confused, I can then provide the light to get them on the right track.
I have been a teaching assistant, tutor or math grader at The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Texas at San Antonio, The University of Texas at El Paso and at San Antonio College.
Besides being a very good math tutor, I am a kind, respectful, funny guy. I like to keep the atmosphere light as I teach. I want the student to feel comfortable and trusting. I do not judge. There is no shame in needing help in math and it is so rewarding for me to gain the trust necessary for the walls to be lowered in order for learning to take place.
