About Tommy

Bio

I am currently a research scientist for an oilfield services company. While at university, I tutored many students in physics and mathematics. Though I did not pursue teaching as a profession, sharing of knowledge is a large part of what I do in my professional life. A lifelong learner, I spend much of my personal time trying new things and challenging my own understanding. My goal as a tutor is to help the student reach a high level of independence and confidence.

  • Rate details: Group Policy. Two students is 1.5x the hourly rate. Three students is 1.75x the hourly rate. Four students is 2x the hourly rate. I do not take more than four students per session.

By helping those students, I developed a systematic approach to ensure those I tutored didn't miss any of the key ideas. I have a PhD in mathematics and use this stuff every day.

My broad experience makes me qualified to help students learn not only how to solve problems but also how these topics fit together.

Tommy really helped me with some core conceptual concepts that I had been struggling with for a long time in physics. He explained these concepts to me in a way I hadn’t thought about them before and his methodical approach really helped gain a greater understanding. He was well prepared and easy to talk to. He spent as much time as was needed on each question, and actually ended up answering some of my questions before I had even asked them! I would highly recommend him to anyone struggling in physics or math. It is obvious that he loves these subjects and is very knowledgeable in them.
