University of Arkansas (Mechanical Engg)
Hello prospective students/parents:
I am an experienced Tutor with extensive knowledge in all academic subjects. Over my lifetime I have demonstrated academic success throughout all of my schooling. I am a "unique" Tutor, in that I have a Mechanical Engineering degree. I display a unique blend of interpersonal skills and drive for excellence which translates to success with my students. Education is very important to me, so I do this work with a spirit of excellence.
I have tutored many students in Math and Science, including Geometry, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Physics, in addition to both STAAR and SAT/ACT exam preparation. My strategy on building a strong relationship and key level of respect from my students and their parents has proven to foster a very strong partnership in aiding the students in achieving their goals. I work very hard to instill confidence in my students. Despite the many hours that we spend "learning and practicing", my students clearly develop a strong ownership for their destiny. I most importantly pride myself on being reliable to meet my students' needs. I also enjoy working indirectly with teachers to provide dual streams of support for my students.
Please consider me as a potential partner to reach your academic goals.

My Grandson and Rodney clicked right away. Rodney quickly got a handle on my Grandson's math needs and his emotional support needs as well.
We'll continue with Rodney for further help.
Loved the fact that Rodney knows how to approach teaching based upon the structure of the specific college entrance exam being taken. First meeting was going over strategies with our daughter and how to best approach questions when time is of the essence. He is structured and regimented which gives us great "bang for our buck" during a one hour session.
We progressed to setting up a regular tutorial schedule over the summer.
Rodney was a good tutor for my daughter. He gave her tips to make Algebra a little less challenging. We will use him again.
My son thought his tutor was great. He was very patient and explained things at a level my son needed. He feels that Rodney can help him and give him that extra understanding he needs for his math class.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with 6 students over the past 2 years on STAAR Math preparation. I have a strong understanding of the goals and objectives of STAAR. I have also worked in collaboration with schools and teachers in the Cy-Fair ISD, Magnolia ISD, Montgomery ISD and Klein ISD to utilize their past Test and practice Test libraries to prepare my students for the Exam each Spring. All four of my students have successfully passed their STAAR Exams and proceeded on to the next grade level. My experience has been that in Texas, most school curricula is based on year-end student STAAR assessment preparation.
