I grew up in a musical family where learning to play guitar was like learning to tie your shoes. I became a Professional Musician at the age of 16 as Lead Vocalist and Guitarist. I studied Voice privately with Michael Lawrence of The Metropolitan Opera. I have taught private lessons for more than 10 years. I was a Music Minister for 7 years. I was active in my churches always in the Music and Drama departments and assisted in the development of a School of the Arts in Greensboro, N.C., Arts Evangelica, and taught Guitar and Voice. I also assisted in major productions. I taught Music and Drama in a private school, Servant Heart, (umbrella organization,) Christ Academy, and traveled with a Christian Arts Presentation, toured many cities, churches, and venues in the U.S. and Canada as a vocalist, including the 1996 Olympics. I have written two original children's musicals and Directed them. I have been a Music Minister/ Worship Leader, and Children's Choir Director. I have been in and led many bands including one with students who I helped elevate to a professional level.
I am a Professional Musician with extensive experience locally and Nationally. I have worked with students of all ages and have contributed to their growth from beginner amateur to Recording Artist status. I have signed contracts with National Managers and Producers and Recording Labels. I am quite confident that I can help you improve in skill and confidence.
I have a background in Vocational Nursing with a 4.0. average and National Dean's List recognition.
I currently work in an after school enrichment program for Elementary grade students. I am Creative, Loving, Engaging and Patient!

Cheryl is offering guitar lessons for my 13 year old daughter. Cheryl knows her craft and is an engaging tutor, especially for our daughter who tends be shy and reserved. Cheryl went beyond the call of duty to search online and went with me to the store to ensure I purchased the right guitar for my daughter. For our family, she is a great fit!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied this in Music Ed and have the ability to pick up a melody upon a couple of listens. This has been my primary approach for the majority of my Musical Career. I have decades of Experience with this. I have taught many students and have numerous references upon request.

I have more than 50 Years Experience as Guitarist, am a Professional Performer, Recording Artist, and with decades of experience in Private Instruction and Classroom Instruction in Private Christian Schools.
I have written many English Essays and Case Studies in the course of my studies which received an A grade. I am a songwriter and owner of many copyrights. I have had my Poetry published in a National yearly collection. I am a Calligrapher by Hobby and have excellent documentation skills in Nursing. I am a patient Tutor and Teacher in my areas of expertise which translates to all subjects I teach.
I studied Music History for 2 years in High School at Bellaire High School and Sharpstown High School in Houston, Texas. I graduated the courses as part of the Choral and Music Subjects Curriculum with an A. I taught Music History to 1st through 12th grade students at Christ academy, (Servants Heart Umbrella Organization,) for 4 years.
I have over 40 years of experience in Public Speaking and Performance in my role as a Professional Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Choir Director, and Music and Drama Instructor. I have traveled the U.S. and Canada in the capacity of a Performer and Instructor. I have assisted many students in gaining confidence, poise, and proficiency in the public and on stage.
I have been writing songs since I was 8 years old. I am the owner of numerous Copyrights with songs in the hundreds. I have recorded an all original album, and 2 Musicals. I have been commissioned to write and perform many Wedding Songs.
I am a Professional Vocalist and have studied privately with a former performer with The Metropolitan Opera here in Houston. I have been a professional Vocalist for more than 30 years.
