About Tiffany

I have been an of educator for 17 years. During that time I have taught the spectrum of Pre-K through 2nd and 7th and 8th grades. I have also conducted homework labs and interventions for students in Intermediate (5th and 6th) grades. I am also a certified Reading Specialist that used research-based methodologies to work with struggling readers. I have had practice in in-depth study of Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. As a result, I will use various styles of teaching to fit the children's styles of learning. My lessons may include materials that range from Lego blocks to Playdough.
In addition, I have had several research based pedagogy training from which I design my lessons. Each child will have a personalized curriculum to meet his or her needs. My goal is to provide an interactive one-on-one learning experience to help meet the learning gaps the child may have. I also look to install confidence within the child. I want to provide the student with a strong foundation of belief in their ability to succeed.
Overall, it is safe to say that I am a qualified educator with a passion for teaching and a heart for reaching out to parents to help them meet academic goals. One of my personal joys as an educator is bringing out the best in students as I watch them tap into their personal potential. I feel that I have done a small, but significant part in helping prepare them to function in the world. Providing them with a good foundation, is a small part is arming them to follow their dreams knowing they are equipped to do so with a love for learning.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

One of my certification is EC-4. I have taught PreK, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades in three suburban school districts. I have a Master's Degree in Advanced Literacy. I have conducted two case studies in this area. I have previously tutored students that were considered struggling readers with an increase of 20 percent in grade result.

During my work with early Elementary students, I planned and implemented small group Guided Reading and literacy intervention. For Math, I conducted small group instruction with Math stations and manipulatives. Most of my lessons were research and literacy based. For example, I had the students to maintain Science journals of an experiment and Math Journals to explain a problem solution. I also had the students to keep poetry journals with key vocabulary words and phonics.

In my work with Intermediate (Grades 3 to 5) students I coordinated literature circles, novel studies and work stations for Reading. For Math, I provided interactive notebooks for them to practice concepts such as adding and subtracting fractions, place value, and graphing

Overall, I have worked with students in whole group, small group, and one on one settings. I use many research based models as a foundation for planning and implementing.
