UTEP (multidisciplinary st)
I have been teaching and tutoring since I was in high school, a little over 12 years now. I am avidly involved in my community, and I strive everyday to learn more: I am currently enrolled in a self paced program through the UT System, and have extensive experience in all of the fields I have listed on my profile, both firsthand, as well as study experience. What I don't know, I research, and what I research, I research thoroughly. I learn to make subjects that are fun for me into a good experience for others by getting to know my students learning curve, and interests. I am easy going, and specialize in finding obscure ways to go around obstacles that stand in mine and my students' way. From dancing, to the structure of post modern literature, from accounting to political structures and economics, I am incredibly well rounded, and ready to work with you to teach you what you need to know: not only to pass your subject, but also to cone out with a little more than the information your class taught you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a student of dance for 23 years, I have done everything from teach volunteer courses, paid courses, as well as teaching a history of Ballet course since I was about 13 years old. Now, I'm 26, have extensive experience, and have even been in 13 productions in various locations across the U.S.
As a member of USABDA, (United states amateur ballroom dance association) as well as a 13 year teacher of ballroom dance, I have had students all over. I have a close friend and ex dance partner who is currently doing Ballroom professionally in New York, and to this day we still teach a class or two together over the summer.
I have 10 years of elementary school, middle school, and high school tutoring under my belt, to include but not limited to 6 years of tutoring at Pasodale Elementary School in El Paso, Texas. I've taken several courses in early childhood development, and apprenticed with a CRC teacher in El Paso for 3 years to learn how to teach basics to adults with limited functionality.
The Salsa as I was taught it is considered a form of ballroom dance. I have taught modern, interpretive dance, ballroom dance, ballet jazz, and Yoga for about 13 years now. I have been a dance student since I was 3 years old, and while I do not have certification in the above, I daresay 23 years of experience in the field should prove beneficial. I have won 7 awards through USABDA for my work in Salsa.
I have 16 years of sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, and knitting, experience for costuming for theater and historical reenactment. Some of the theater based sewing was done professionally and some was volunteered, and I have won multiple costuming awards for my work in sewing.
I ran 6 different study groups while I was in high school, I was self taught and home bound for my senior year of high school, and have actively been self paced as I continued my education in post secondary learning establishments. I am well versed in the Cornell method of notetaking, as well as having effective methods I have learned firsthand from taking and deciphering accurate and descriptive notes, for better assessment later.
As a former Volunteer for the YMCA, I taught swimming courses for kids for about 5 years. I also participated on the high school swim team all four years, and continue to swim actively even today. I also have experience with water-based aerobics, as I had to use it to rehabilitate my hamstring, which I tore in high school during a car accident.
Having worked on dance sets and Theater sets for 12 years (actively), I have been a member of over 53 productions, both as a player and a technician. From lights and sound on the set of Blood Wedding, to Ma Joad in Grapes of Wrath, I know the physical, the technical, and the historical sides of theater better than some people know their siblings.
