About John

Bio

I have been teaching for 7 years and I am certified for both Middle and High School. I am Special Education certified as well. I am a firm believer that my students need to demonstrate a basic understanding of any concept that we are working on by doing it by hand and not go to a calculator first. The student needs to think through the problem first and develop a process for problem solving. Learning the foundational concepts and skills are critical before we utilize technology.

Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is the bridge that is needed to be able to make the jump to Trig and Pre-Cal. It takes students much further than the previous course, Alg. 1. Algebra 2 takes students through the rest of what is considered Algebra; that is functions and all of the applications involved there in. It also introduces more Trig type of problems involving circles, ellipses and parabolas.
Calculus,

Calculus

I have had Calculus as a student and my certification in Texas qualifies me to teach it
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry is the most understood of the high school mathematics courses because most rules and facts are not necessarily derived from formulas. There are some hard and fast rules which you cannot get around such degree measure of triangles and circles. To most students, geometry makes more sense than algebra!
Algebra 1, Prealgebra, Precalculus, SAT Math

Trigonometry,

Trigonometry

Trig is geometry with a lot more calculations. Much more rigorous detail to memorizing formulas and manipulating identities is a must.

John was very patient while working with me. He was able to walk me through the problem, and explain it step by step.
