I have worked as a TA at University teaching various Biology classes and statistical concepts, worked as a substitute teacher at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels, and, most recently, have been working as a tutor specializing in math, science, and statistics. I use my work experience and academic success as a springboard toward helping others be successful in achieving their educational goals in their courses and/or test prep.
My general teaching philosophy is for students to gain grade-level appropriate conceptual mastery so they may think critically about the subject material in order to be dynamic problem solvers. Furthermore, as an educator, I wish to help students develop tools for sustained academic success.
Tutoring lessons are always geared toward student goals, whether that be teaching conceptual mastery of material, helping to study for a test, giving guidance on study techniques, or just to make sure they are on the right track in a homework assignment. Because students vary in their goals, academic backgrounds, and learning styles, I encourage open communication even before lessons start so I can best fit a lesson plan to you.
I am always open for any questions, even between lesson, if they should arise, and will always do my best to get back to you in a timely matter, despite a busy schedule. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have excelled in mathematics through my undergraduate and graduate career. I have taken courses through multivariate calculus. If you need tutoring for Algebra 1, I can help!
I have a Master's of Science degree in Biology, experience teaching, and in tutoring. I can tutor Biology through middle school, high school (including AP), as well as at the college level.
As a Biology student emphasizing in Ecology, I have taken numerous statistics courses in my undergraduate career, to which I earned A's. I have also taken a statistics and experimental design course in my graduate studies where I earned an A-. I have also taught both parametric and non-parametric statistics as part of an introductory ecology course at university.
I have taken several college-level Chemistry classes while getting my degrees in Biology. I have also applied general chemistry principles in research laboratory environments.
I have a Master's Degree in Biology, teaching experience, and a general curiosity/appreciation for science and mathematics.
In my undergraduate career I have taken genetics and a genetics lab course. I also worked in our college's microbiology lab extracting, amplifying, purifying, cloning, and sequencing DNA. In my graduate career I took a course in both advanced genetics as well as epigenetics. I also continued work using molecular techniques to extract and amplify DNA.
I have taken several classes in statistics, as well as used statistics in a research capacity. I have also taught aspects of statistical theory and practice at the college level. I can help with both understanding the how and why of statistics.
I have a Master's of Science degree in Biology. During my academic career I have taken numerous classes in biology, as well as specifically in Zoology. These classes included topics such as taxonomy, physiology, ecology, and development.
