I have tutored at the college level for five years and am currently employed as a grader at Dallas Seminary for the Old Testament department. I believe in teaching inductively whenever possible, utilizing different methods for learning and application. I am in an alternative teaching certification program and I had a study packet of information that included World History, American History, Texas History, and Economics. I was interesting in finding a tutor who could go over the packets with me and also provide more background information that would improve my understanding.
James was always prepared for the lesson and was very adaptive to my learning style. My goal was to complete the packet with James and review all of the packets again, along with the notes I took during tutoring just before I took my teaching certification test.
On the day of my test, I was extremely nervous but I was very surprised at how well I knew the information. I remember about 10 or so of the questions coming directly from the additional notes I received from James. Needless to say, I PASSED!!!
If you are in need of a very thorough tutor, I highly recommend James.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
