About Colin

I am theatre educator with over five years of experience teaching grades 6 - 12. I successfully implement technology into my lessons, considering myself to be more than your typical "actor/director" teacher; I have extensive knowledge in technical theatre as well. I train my students to be competitive, as competition breeds innovation and talent. Students from my programs have gone on to win top ranking awards within district based competitions.

Whether you are looking to improve on an audition or compete to earn scholarships/awards, I can give you the edge to stand out. My training and education was geared with UIL in mind. I can also assist with directing and script writing tips.

As I mentioned in my bio, shows I have directed and students in my program have gone on to win numerous awards. I have been an active writer, director, and actor for nearly a decade and a half, and nearly half of that spent as an educator.

I don't sugarcoat anything. I will give you honest criticism that will highlight your strengths and pinpoint your weaknesses. I am open to explore most obstacles, and I take great pride and excitement in assisting students to succeed.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Theatre

I am a current theatre teacher, serving my second year at Jackson Technology Center in Garland ISD. My previous two years spent before that were at Molina High School in Dallas ISD. I started my first professional year of teaching at a charter school in San Antonio: Brooks Academy. I am also currently EC-12 certified by the State of Texas to teach my subject.
