Hello! My tutoring experience has been as a volunteer, teaching ESL to adults. I tutored adults on and off for about two and a half years. After this, I finished my master's degree where I did a practicum ay UTPA teaching English to college freshmen. I enjoy teaching young adults as well as high school students. School has started and I will be working as a substitute teacher at secondary schools in McAllen.
I enjoy seeing the progress that many students make almost immediately; and enjoy the challenge of finding ways to make learning easier for my students. It is very satisfying to see a student grasp a language concept. I find inspiration in this.
What makes me a terrific ESL teacher is my training and love for the English language.
While I have only a minor in Spanish, my first language was Spanish. I am constantly trying to perfect my Spanish through reading Spanish articles in the newspaper, reading Spanish literature and listening to Spanish radio. I speak Spanish whenever I am speaking to other Spanish speakers. I was also a translator for an English/Spanish publication.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
