Bio

I am currently a 3rd year undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering.

It would be remiss of me not to mention that I spent 7 years in the Army working with Apaches, Blackhawks, and Chinooks. I ETS'd with the rank of Sergeant after serving a tour in both Iraq and Afghanistan. This experience, as much as any, has shaped my teaching style as well as providing years of practical, real-world experience. Contrary to popular assumptions,...

Contrary to popular assumptions, teaching soldiers is not just a long stream of yelling and cursing. That is not to say it is not present, but this method is conducive to teaching and has no place in academic tutoring. Training young soldiers has given me experience in finding ways to adapt the subject to the student's strengths and explaining the material in a way they can understand. Setting clear goals and expectations appropriate to the student, then evaluating the attainment of those goals objectively is the core concept. In short, "I will not set you up for failure."

Having completed the first half of an engineering undergrad degree, I have gained extensive knowledge and proficiency in all the fundamental math and science subjects. Additionally, being a current student gives me insight into what professors and teachers are looking for in students; and what students are expected to know. Even students who decide to enter the workforce after high school, or pursue a trade career, can benefit.

Thank you for your consideration.

Fitness

During my enlistment with the Army I served as the PT instructor for squad, platoon, and company sized elements. I was qualified to instruct a wide range of fitness subjects which includes, but is not limited to, functional cross-training (e.g. Crossfit), combative (MMA), combat readiness drills, and various weight-control and rehabilitation programs. After I left the service, I got certified as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and have since worked with clients of all ages and fitness levels. I use a proven, systematic approach individually tailored to your needs and goals.

Knowledgeable, available and reliable

My son has never liked any tutor as this one. He loves this tutor so much that he's usually the one who reminds me about going for sessions. He wishes he knew him earlier. Marcus accommodated us last minute and he's been available for my son whenever he wants him for his final reviews.
