About Michael

I have studied geology since the late 80's, was forced to leave school due to the failing energy economy of the late 1980's and began a successful company for 15 years until an untimely accident in 2009. I felt life was too short, and decided to finish my degree in geology at Sam Houston University (Bachelors in Geology and minor in chemistry). I have real life experience that I can use to help explain fairly complex theories that are the bases of earth sciences. I'm not an academic egghead who has not seen how these processes make profit and produce the most important energy source that mankind has ever developed. I will try to use a visual and hands on examples to enhance the understanding of processes that have taken millions upon millions of years to complete. Sometimes, the simplest example can cause one to understand something that a book and "pretty pictures" can't convey. For an example, plate tectonics can be simply shown by using a tarp or sheet of paper and applying tension and slack to the edges. With the proper layman explanation of the concepts, one can understand anticlines, synclines, mantle convection, and even complex fault formation. Geology is not hard to understand with the right direction. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Really knows his stuff!

Michael was very knowledgeable about geology and was able to walk my son through it in a way that made sense to him. Michael was very thorough. We would highly recommend him.
