About Evan

I am truly passionate about teaching and tutoring, especially in mathematics. I believe that to really understand a challenging subject such as mathematics, students need one-on-one tutoring. This one-on-one tutoring will allow the students to truly connect to the subject and fully understand the concepts. From the moment I first started tutoring I knew that I was going to love it. Helping people and seeing them learn and excel as students is a truly amazing feeling.

I am currently a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics at Texas Tech University. I am currently tutoring students in, college algebra, business related mathematics, Calculus I, and Calculus II. All of these students are enrolled at Texas Tech and are thriving in their respective classes.

I recently graduated from a college preparatory high school with a 4.0 GPA. As a junior, I made a 34 on the ACT and as a senior I made a 5 on the Calculus AB AP Exam. I have math experience in Geometry, Algebra I & II, Precalculus, and AP Calculus. I am currently enrolled in Calculus II at Texas Tech as a freshman and I am already tutoring several people in business related math and college algebra.

I am very flexible in hours and location unless I have class, and I will always be willing to compromise and work something out. I am not a strict tutor, I am college kid and can relate to you on a personal level which makes learning that much easier in my opinion. Although I am young, I know what I'm doing and I can definitely help you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I scored a 34 when I took my ACT last year and I am certified to prepare students for this test.

Algebra 2

In high school I was Algebra 2 student of the year and it truly is my favorite math class that I have taken so far, so I would love to help you understand it!

Football

My passion for sports in unmatched. I love every aspect of athletics including the morals and life lessons learned through them. I have been blessed throughout my life with great coaches that understood the impact that athletics can have on athletes. Through these great coaches I have had the chance to compete in some amazing events, such as The Texas Relays, FCA Football Victory Bowl, TAPPS 6 Man All-Star Game, Don Hardin Texas Bowl. My goal is to do for my athletes what my coaches did for me by helping them achieve their goals as athletes and also teaching them some life lessons along the way. I played 11-man football for eight years before switching schools and joining a six-man football team. As an 11-man player I played slot receiver and cornerback, but as a six-man player I played quarterback and safety. Being moved from position to position has taught me an indescribable amount about football and it allows me to see the game from many different perspectives. I would love to coach defensive backs and receivers, but I would also do quarterback lessons if desired.

Track & Field

I was a State Qualifier in Long Jump (2016, 2017), 4 x 400 m Relay (2016), and 300 m Hurdles (2017). I was a Regional Qualifier in Long Jump (2016, 2017), 4 x 400 m Relay (2015, 2016, 2017), 300 m Hurdles (2017), Pole Vault (2017), Triple Jump (2016), 400 m (2016), and 800 m (2015).
