I am most interested in working with graduate students who are writing a thesis or dissertation. I have extensive experience providing consultations and services for these kinds of writing projects. I have taught a variety of Freshman and Sophomore level classes at Texas Tech University since August 2006, including Freshman Comp I & II, Introduction to Drama, Introduction to Fiction, and Introduction to Film and Media Studies. In addition to the college credit courses that I have taught, i have also taught college level remedial English classes. I can assist you at all levels.
In addition to my teaching experience, I have tutored students at all levels since 2002. While working in a University Writing Center setting at WTAMU and TTU, I supported undergraduate and graduate student writers in all disciplines. In addition, I have several years experience tutoring student-athletes, both through my employment at the Marsha Sharp Center at TTU and privately; I tutored mostly for English classes, but also offered services across the curriculum in other writing intensive classes. Lastly, I have tutored high school students with an intensive focus on teaching grammar skills and understanding.
I am a highly proficient editor and know how to use the tools in Microsoft Word that will make your dissertation or thesis stand out from the rest. Lesley went above and beyond what she was asked to do for the tutoring session, helping me gain insight to a different way of writing and formatting my papers. She is extremely knowledgeable with giving a better understanding to how reviewers go through essay papers and how to leave you mark and get their attention.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I previously taught freshman comp and sophomore English classes at Texas Tech. I am currently a Writing Coach for the Doctoral Support Center in the College of Education.
