I have some experience with tutoring, but mostly with teaching new skills to middle and high school aged people as a Summer Camp Counselor at Camp Mystic. I am currently working on my Human Development and Family Studies (with a focus on Family and Consumer Science) degree with a minor in American Sign Language. I am fun and outgoing but also know when to take things seriously. I love working with students and tutoring is actually something I greatly enjoy and do not get frustrated by.
I have an ability to explain things a variety of ways, use resources if I do not remember something, am a fourth level student, and create clever ways to remember what a sign means.
I have a love for vocabulary and use it somewhat frequently in my day to day speech, and am able to help students learn the words and understand what they mean.
I am a fourth level American Sign Language student and love working with those who are hard of hearing.
I was a softball player for 11 years and love the sport. I was a catcher and captain of my high school team for two years who won a championship.
I love working with students and know how frustrating school can be, so I would love to be able to lift that burden from them through helping them understand what they are learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently studying to receive my minor in American Sign Language at Texas Tech University. I have always had a love for hard of hearing and deaf individuals and am now getting to learn their language for my fourth semester now, making me a level 4 student) and really want to work with individuals that desire to learn the language as well. I am somewhat fluent in signing but am still learning new signs. I love tutoring and working with students.
I played softball for 11 years and my last year as a player my high school won the division championship. I was also my high school team's captain for 2 seasons and loved to run the field through my position as catcher. I had done some private lessons and worked with my coaches to learn some of the skills in teaching others how to play softball.
