My name is Mitzi. I am 38 years old. I have been happily married to my husband, Jeff, for 11 years, and we have two children, Justin is 8 and Emily is 3. We are both in the teaching profession.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Academic Studies from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, in 1994. Since then, I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade in 4 different school districts over the past 17 years. I currently teach kindergarten in Livingston, Texas, at Timber Creek Elementary School.
I have extensive experience in teaching the lower elementary grade levels kindergarten through second grade. I am trained in several different reading programs including ReadWell, SRA, McGraw-Hill and Open Court. I also have knowledge of several math programs including Saxon, Houghton Mifflin, and Math Their Way.
My beliefs about teaching have remained consistent over the past 17 years. I believe that all kids learn differently and that it is my job, as a teacher, to get to know the child's learning style in order to understand how they are going to learn certain concepts. I also am positive that there is a direct correlation between my enthusiasm for a subject and the child's willingness to learn about a subject.
I have a very out-going personality and am excited about the opportunity to serve you through my teaching abilities! My name is Mitzi. I am 38 years old. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
