Hello, my name is Abigail, I am a very outgoing person and I enjoy helping others. For anyone who might think math is really difficult, I'm sure I can help!
Math is about learning the basics, once you grasp those concepts, you are on your way to an A. My approach to teaching, is simply providing what is lacking, what do I mean by that? Many times in mathematics, one is lacking the fundamentals to solving the problem, it isn't necessarily that the problem is difficult per say. Not understanding fundamental concepts prevent students from achieving their full potential. Therefore, I try to figure out what basic concept is not being understood, and once I explain that concept we can move forward to solving problems.
As a youth leader at my church, I have a lot of experience in dealing with teenagers and young adults, which has allowed me to be able to connect with them and establish a safe learning environment f. I am a visual audio learner and as such, I love to implement visual aids to help students clearly understand what they are learning.I have tutored children and adults alike and have found that for mathematics a visual approach usually does the trick. I also like to connect what the student is learning to the real world,so that they grasp the concepts on a personal level and can refer back to the connections when they need to approach a different problem on their own. My ultimate goal in teaching is that the student feels confident on their own to solve any problem related to the material learned. Abi was wonderful at helping me understand concepts and equations that I have been struggling for an entire semester in a matter of minutes!
It was a pleasure helping you! Thank you for your feedback :)
Abigail is very easy going and patient. She came with review material and helped our daughter understand some steps that she was having difficulty with. Can't wait for our next session!!
Update: Abbie has been working with our daughter for 5 months now and I am here to say that she finally gets it!!! She has gone from failing Algebra to getting a B at the moment. I am very confident that she will have a final grade of an A. Thanks Abbie for all you do. You're AWESOME!!!
Abagail was a pleasure to have tutor our daughter, J. Our daughter felt very comfortable with her and said she did an excellent job reviewing & teaching her middle school math. She's looking forward to her next session!
Abigail is exactly what we wanted in a tutor. She knows her stuff, my son can relate to her and she is committed to his success. Plus she is a nice person!
Very patient and knows her stuff!! She explains in a way that is very understanding and it is really helpful, everyone needs a tutor like her!
Thank you, Abby!! You really helped with with the algebra II review, I felt like I understood everything more than I did in my class last year. Using different problems and going step by step really helped.
Abigail came prepared with material that enabled my daughter to revisit core principles that she sorely needed to review, before attempting the course material. She left her with work to do while on vacation in NY and told her to call her with any questions before they meet again. I am very pleased!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 4 years of tutoring experience in Algebra 1 and higher math levels. I love to teach and my passion for teaching really makes a difference in my students success.
